Carmen's Recent Activities
Carmen completed OSHA 10-Hour training courses for the Juniors at the Washington County Career Center High School in early February. This training provides hazard awareness for students in the highschool that they can use at work. Students recieve a DOL 10-Hour Card which is recognized nationally and is required by some employers in order to work at certain facilities.
Carmen was accepted as an EPA Accredited Trainer for the EPA RRP Certified Renovator Course. Classes begin in late December 2010.
Carmen was voted in as Chair to the A10.38 "Basic Elements of an Employer's Program to Provide a Safe and Healthful Work Environment" Subcommittee in July 2010
Carmen participated in an OSHA Roundtable Discussion at the Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council on May 19, 2010.
Carmen completed the EPA RRP lead renovator training on May 18, 2010. Carmen is in the process of submitting her application to EPA for authorization teach this class.
Carmen finished the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry and Construction industry training for the Washington County Career Center Vocational Technical High-School Juniors. Classes began on April 7 and completed on may 17, 2010. A total of 47 students completed the Construction Industry 10-Hour class and 66 students completed the General Industry 10-Hour class.
Carmen was recognized at the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner on March 8, 2010 with the Chamber's "Outstanding new Member Award".
Carmen just completed the OSHA 501 Train the Trainer Course in February, authorizing her to teach the General Industry 10 and 30-Hour courses in addition to the Construction Industry Courses she already offers.
Carmen attended the January 2010 AGC Safety and Health Committee Meeting in Las Vegas, NV. The first part fo the week was spent managing the Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) first round judging while the rest of the week was spent on product development and continuing education. Carmen is the Vice-Chair of the CSEA and chair of the workforce development task force.
Carmen is working with the Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council to facilitate and present the second annual "Youth Safety Day" at the Washington County Career Center in Marietta, OH on September 24, 2009. This day includes a series of short safety "crash courses" for approximately 200 Juniors at the Vocational-Technical High School. Topics include PPE, Eye Protection, Substance Abuse, First-Aid, Hearing Protection, and more!
Carmen travelled to Virginia in August of 2009 to provide short-term safety staffing for an Army Corps project requiring a "Level 6" safety professional. "Level 6" refers to a CSP or CIH with 10 years of experience in the field and 5 years experience on similar projects.
Carmen provided an OSHA 30-Hour/EM 385 Safety Training course of the National Institutes of Health in July of 2009.
Carmen was accepted on the ANSI A10 committee as a full voting member in July of 2009.
Carmen completed the NCCER ICTP Training to be an instructor for the NCCER Core Curriculum, Project Management and Site Safety Courses in 2009.
Carmen became an American Heart Association Basic Life Safety Instructor in 2009
